Cultural and religious activities

For those who prefer a slower pace and wish to explore cultural and religious options during Holy Week on the Costa Dorada, there is a variety of activities to discover in different nearby locations.

In Tarragona, the Holy Burial takes place, a procession with a tradition of almost 500 years, declared a Traditional Festival of National Interest. This moving parade takes place on Good Friday and crosses the Upper Part of Tarragona. One of the most distinctive features of this event is the presence of the Roman cohort known as “Els armats”, which accompanies the sound of the drums, the Nazarenes, and the bearers.

Another religious event worth visiting during Holy Week is the Procession of Silence in Reus. During the night of Thursday, this procession travels through the streets of the capital of Baix Camp in solemn silence, illuminated only by torches and the sound of drums.

But it is not only these cities that offer outstanding religious shows during Holy Week in Costa Dorada. A short distance away, towns like La Selva del Camp celebrate the Via Crucis, while in Cambrils, Riudoms, and other cities close to the Ebro delta, religious events can also be found that will enrich the experience of your getaway.

Immerse yourself in the delicious seafood cuisine and much more

One of the greatest prides of the Costa Dorada is its rich gastronomic tradition, especially when it comes to seafood delights. In Cambrils, Salou, and other charming coastal corners, you’ll find a wide selection of restaurants offering the best seafood.

From lobsters to cuttlefish, through mussels, squids, groupers, monkfish, sardines, and many more, the flavors of the sea are combined in exquisite fish grills. Accompany these delights with the classic alioli sauce and the aromatic romesco sauce, typical of the region, and you will feel more than satisfied at the end of your meal. And do not forget to delight in paellas and other rice dishes, perfect for sharing with family and enjoying to the fullest.

Among the typical dishes that you cannot miss on the Costa Dorada are the calçots. Although their main season is at the beginning of the year, during Holy Week it is still possible to delight in these delicacies roasted on the grill. Get ready to discover a new favorite among your preferred dishes.

Lastly, we cannot overlook the excellent selection of wines offered by the Costa Dorada, with denominations of origin such as Tarragona, Priorat, Penedès, Terra Alta, and Conca de Barberà. White wine enhances the flavor of fish grills, while red wine perfectly complements calçots and grilled meats.

Explore PortAventura World

PortAventura World is one of the must-have experiences on the Costa Dorada during Easter. Traditionally, its theme parks open their doors at this time, providing a unique opportunity to enjoy a day full of excitement and adventures.

During this season, both PortAventura Park and Ferrari Land welcome visitors eager for fun. However, the PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park remains closed until the beginning of summer.

Although the weather is usually pleasant, temperatures may not be warm enough to fully enjoy the water park’s slides and pools.

Beaches and outdoor activities

With the sun gaining strength and the cool mornings giving way to a warm midday, Easter becomes an exceptional opportunity to explore the stunning beaches of the Costa Dorada.

The coastal towns are already prepared to welcome tourists and residents looking to enjoy the pleasant weather. During this brief holiday period, you will find that the golden sands of the Costa Dorada are as impeccable as ever.

Although it is true that the water may be a bit cool since the summer heat has not yet arrived to warm the Mediterranean Sea, you will not be able to resist the temptation of taking a refreshing dip. Take advantage of the warmest hours of the day to relax on the beaches and reserve the rest of the time to enjoy other exciting activities.
