Are you looking for a weekend getaway plan? Miami Playa, on the beautiful Costa Dorada, is a safe bet. This small paradise between Tarragona and the Mediterranean has everything you need: clear water beaches, idyllic coves, mouthwatering cuisine, and activities for all tastes. Let’s just say it’s the perfect place to disconnect, recharge your batteries, and return home feeling like you’ve made the most of your weekend.

Get comfortable, because we’re going to tell you how to squeeze every last drop out of a weekend in Miami Playa.

Getting here is easy:

  • By car: from Barcelona, you’ll arrive in 1 hour and 20 minutes, and from Tarragona in just 30 minutes. Just take the AP-7 or N-340 and follow the signs.
  • By train: the nearest station is L’Hospitalet de l’Infant, which is a 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk away. From there, there are medium-distance trains that connect with Tarragona, Barcelona, and Valencia.
  • By plane: if you’re coming from further away, Reus Airport is only 30 km away and Barcelona-El Prat Airport is about 110 km away. From either of these, you can rent a car or catch a train to L’Hospitalet de l’Infant.

In summary, getting there is quick and easy, so there’s no excuse not to treat yourself to a luxurious weekend.

What to do in Miami Playa over a weekend

En un fin de semana caben muchos planes, más de los que imaginas. Pero aquí van tres que no pueden faltar en tu escapada a Miami Playa.

Enjoy its dreamy beaches and coves

There’s no need to overthink it: the first plan is to lounge on the sand and forget about time. Miami Playa has large beaches like Playa Cristal, ideal for strolling or sunbathing without stress, and more intimate coves like Cala del Solitari or Cala dels Vienesos.

Are you more action-oriented? Rent a kayak or hop on a paddleboard to explore the coast from a different angle. And if you’re into snorkelling, the water here is so clear that you’ll be able to see plenty of fish swimming alongside you.

Take a walk through the town centre

Although it’s small, Miami Playa has a charm that hypnotizes and invites you to get lost in its streets. Doing this, you’ll come across cool places like the Church of Santa María Magdalena, with its simple yet welcoming architecture. And if you come in summer, the nights on the promenade have a spectacular atmosphere with concerts, night markets, and open-air cinema.

Take a tour of the Ebro Delta

If you have some extra time, just 30 minutes away by car is the Ebro Delta, a natural jewel that you can’t miss. Taking a boat ride through the canals, seeing flamingos in their natural habitat, or treating yourself to a breathtaking rice dish on board is priceless. It’s a short but unforgettable excursion that adds that adventurous touch your weekend getaway to Miami Playa needs.

Activities for the whole family in Miami Playa

If you’re traveling with children, Miami Playa is a total win. At Playa Cristal, there are playgrounds, perfect for little ones to play in the sand or splash at the shore. And just 20 minutes away by car, you have PortAventura World, one of the best amusement parks in Europe. A guaranteed great plan for both children and adults.

And if you’re a nature lover, another good option is to take a bicycle excursion along the greenway that connects Miami Playa with nearby towns like Cambrils. It’s a simple, well-marked route with incredible views. Getting bored here is mission impossible.

Taste the gastronomy of Miami Playa and fall in love

Here there’s no option but to surrender to the charms of the Mediterranean. Miami Playa is synonymous with fresh seafood, spectacular rice dishes, and grilled fish that will make your mouth water. If you’re looking for recommendations:

  • Restaurante Eclipse: a must if you want to try championship-level fideuá or black rice.
  • The beach bars of Playa Cristal: here it’s all about tapas, cold beers, and sea views. Nothing more needed to be happy.
  • Calma Playa: a place with a chilled-out atmosphere where you can enjoy cocktails and live music at sunset.

Warning: the food here is VERY good, so prepare to roll out the door.
